Adding VALUE to your prices as a nail tech.

Jess Fraser

The National Nail Tech Price Increase Day is causing a stir in the nail and beauty community. Whether you offer acrylic nails, builder gel or gel polish toes, price lists are being reviewed. According to the Nail Tech Org most UK nail techs are working for less than £7 per hour! So it is understandable that change is needed, and this movement is making it happen.

But what happens when you look at your prices, workout your overheads and outgoings and still feel unconfident to make the increase? This blog post can help!

Providing great service adds value for our clients

When pricing our services as a nail tech many of us focus on hourly rate, products used, outgoings and market competition.

A lot of us forget about a key element VALUE. The value you bring to your client's experience.

In a competitive industry VALUE can be a deal breaker.

What do I mean by value? Things like the environment your clients come into, the extras like drinks and snacks, the training you invest in to stay up to date, and skilled. This adds to your customer's experience, and ultimately they will pay more for it.

An example of value added to my clients, is my online booking system. They love being able to book their appointments with ease, day or night. Something they actually requested, was a system that stored their card details so when they were chilling in bed they could book an appointment without having to get up and get their purse! This has added value to being my client.

So get out your notepad and pen, and make a list of the value you already provide. To do this think about what your clients appreciate, what do they tell you they like about coming to get their nails done with you? These things are the value your service holds. I bet you'll be surprised.

Acknowledging what you bring to your clients nail appointment should give you the confidence to raise your prices.

(Ps. Make sure to design some social media posts around these value points. So your clients are reminded of what a great experience they receive)
